Sikeston police investigate suspicious fire
SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — Authorities are investigating a suspicious fire at a residence in the 100 block of Autumn Drive, where officers responded to a disturbance call on July 30.
Upon arrival, officers detected a strong burning odor and found a smoldering mattress in the backyard. Further investigation revealed a smoke-filled room and an active fire on the kitchen counter.
The Sikeston Fire Division extinguished the fire, and a joint investigation was conducted by the Sikeston DPS Fire Marshal and detectives.
Justin Miller, 32, of Sikeston, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree arson, a Class B felony. Bond was set at $100,000 cash only.
