Scott City Mayor faces assault charge

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – The Scott City Mayor has been formally charged following an incident that took place at a Scott City Council meeting on Monday July 21, 2025.

According to the Scott County Sheriff Derick Wheetley his department began to investigate after an incident that involved Scott Citys Mayor, and a local business owner escalated into a physical altercation where the mayor grasped the business owner. No injuries were reported, and no arrests were made at the scene.

Following the investigation Scott County Sheriff announced today August 8, 2025, that the matter was reviewed by the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and Scott City Mayor, Norman Brant faces one charge of 4th degree assault.

Scott County Sheriff states that Scott City, City Officials have been fully cooperative with their department during the investigation process.
