Officer head-butted during bar fight arrest

CHRISTOPHER, Ill., (KBSI) — A police officer responded to a report of a verbal altercation at a tavern on Market Street, which escalated into a physical confrontation.

The suspect, Jerry W. Ing, 31, of Christopher, was found to be highly intoxicated and had made threats toward other patrons.

Ing allegedly attempted to engage officers in a physical altercation, head-butting an officer, and was subdued with a Taser.

Ing was taken into custody, transported to a hospital for evaluation, and later booked into the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery and intimidation.

Ing is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
