West City police honor citizens for bravery during fire; rescuing parent, & 2-year-old child
WEST CITY, Ill., (KBSI) — The West City Police Department and Franklin County Housing Authority presented Outstanding Citizen Awards to Kenny Benedict and John Nalley for their heroic actions during a May 9 fire.
Benedict and Nalley heard smoke alarms sounding and a resident yelling for help from a second-story window. They, along with West City Police Officer James Pritchard, assisted in rescuing the resident and her 2-year-old child from the window.
The mother and child were treated for smoke inhalation at Franklin Hospital and released. Benedict and Nalley were recognized for their bravery and selflessness during a ceremony.
