Flu shot clinics scheduled at John J. Pershing VA facilities
KBSI FOX23 News at 9 p.m.
POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — The John J. Pershing VA Medical Center will host a series of no-cost influenza vaccination clinics for Veterans at its seven facilities throughout September and October.
A walk-in clinic is now open in Room 1F-166 of the Poplar Bluff campus at 1500 N. Westwood Blvd. The clinic operates 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 14. A drive-thru clinic will also be available at the facility’s north entrance from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, Sept. 29 through Oct. 10.
“It’s as easy as rolling up your sleeve and rolling down your window to get your flu shot without leaving your car,” said Ashely Aubuchon, health promotion and disease prevention program manager, who described the drive-thru clinic as a “pit stop to protection.”
Outpatient clinics will also offer flu shots from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
Oct. 16: West Plains, 1801 East State Route K
Oct. 17: Paragould, 2420 Linwood Dr., Suite 3
Oct. 17: Farmington, 1580 West Columbia St.
Oct. 17: Sikeston, 903 S. Kings Highway
Oct. 24: Pocahontas, 300 Camp Road
The Cape Girardeau VA Health Care Center will provide drive-thru vaccinations from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 17 during its annual Fall Freedom Festival.
Veterans are asked to bring their VA health care identification card. Those who wish to receive other vaccinations on the same day may do so, but Aubuchon recommends getting the flu shot first, then visiting a primary care provider for additional vaccines.
Veterans who cannot attend the scheduled clinics may receive a flu shot at their next primary care appointment or at no cost from an in-network community provider by showing their VA ID card. A list of VA-approved providers is available at Find VA Locations | Veterans Affairs.
