Egyptian Electric Cooperative opens applications for classroom grants

MURPHYSBORO, Ill., (KBSI) — Egyptian Electric Cooperative is now accepting applications for its 2025-26 Classroom Empowerment Grants, which will award 10 grants of $500 each to local educators.

The program is open to K–12 teachers in public and private schools within the cooperative’s service area. Eligible public-school districts include Carbondale, Carterville, Chester, Coulterville, DeSoto, Du Quoin, Elverado, Marissa, Murphysboro, Pinckneyville, Red Bud, Sparta, Steeleville and Trico.

The grants may be used to fund classroom projects or enhance the learning environment for students.
