Authorities warn of door-to-door scam in West Paducah

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — Authorities are warning residents about a scam after a West Paducah homeowner reported finding a door hanger from a company calling itself “SMS Services” on their front door Thursday.

The homeowner told police that when they called the number listed, the caller immediately requested their Social Security number. Officials say this is a scam and urge residents not to provide personal information.

The individual who placed the door hanger was described as a very thin white male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black hoodie and driving a small white sedan.

Residents who encounter similar solicitations are encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
