CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) –Discovery Playhouse will join the nationally recognized Worldwide Day of Play, created by Nickelodeon, on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event encourages children and families to set aside television and electronic devices to embrace active, joyful learning through play.
“This day is a natural for us,” said Courtney Corbett, executive director of Discovery Playhouse. “The goals of Worldwide Day of Play align perfectly with our mission to create fun, educational and interactive experiences for children and caregivers as they play, discover, and learn.”

Special Worldwide Day of Play programming will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the museum will remain open during regular hours, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with normal admission pricing.
“Whether you’re a longtime member or a first-time visitor, Worldwide Day of Play will be a perfect opportunity to enjoy Discovery Playhouse,” Corbett said.
Founded in 2006 by community leaders, Discovery Playhouse opened at its current Broadway location in 2010.
