Mercy clarifies social media misrepresentation

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Mercy released a statement Tuesday condemning violence and clarifying misinformation circulating on social media following the death of political commentator Charlie Kirk.
“Mercy unequivocally condemns all violence and violent rhetoric. Our prayers are with Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones after today’s horrifying act of violence,” the statement read.
The health system said it became aware of posts from a social media user whose profile claimed she was a nurse at Mercy. Officials said a review of employee records confirmed the individual does not, and has never, worked for Mercy.
“Mercy would never tolerate any employees celebrating violence, which would be a clear violation of not only our employee policies but also our mission as a healing ministry of Jesus,” the statement continued.
