CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau City Council member Tameka Randle announced Tuesday that she will seek re-election to represent Ward 2.

Randle, who was first elected to the council in 2021, highlighted her record of promoting economic development, public safety and fiscal responsibility. She pointed to neighborhood reinvestment, infrastructure projects, and partnerships that she said have strengthened the city and improved quality of life for residents.

“Serving Ward 2 has been a privilege, and I am proud of the progress we’ve made together,” Randle said in a statement. “Looking ahead, I will continue to focus on strengthening our economy, keeping our neighborhoods safe, and making sure every tax dollar is invested wisely. I remain committed to leading with integrity and action.”

During her tenure, Randle has supported Transportation Trust Fund 7 street improvements, advocated for public education on water system funding and championed redevelopment efforts, including the Broadway Theatre project. She has also served as the city’s liaison to the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation, backing projects such as the Shawnee Park Complex expansion.

In public safety, Randle has worked with the police chief, endorsed school resource officer programs and participated in NAACP community meetings. She has encouraged stronger neighborhood engagement through initiatives like Neighborhood Roll Call and PORCH open houses.

Beyond her council role, Randle serves as CEO of the PORCH Initiative, a nonprofit that has secured more than $1 million in funding—90% from private donors—reinvested over $1.2 million in South Cape real estate and built more than 50 public-private partnerships to expand housing access and support neighborhood stabilization.

She was appointed to the Missouri Housing Development Commission in 2023. In 2025, she received the Award of Excellence from Lighthouse United Church and was named a B Magazine Difference Maker.
