CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Sikeston R-6 School District is partnering with Southeast Missouri State University through the SEMO Educators Advantage program, offering faculty and staff new opportunities for professional development and academic advancement.

The program provides Sikeston educators with tuition discounts on SEMO’s online undergraduate, graduate and paraprofessional pathway programs. Officials said the initiative is designed to make higher education more accessible and affordable for teachers while ultimately benefiting students and the community.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with the SEMO Educators Advantage program,” said Shannon Holifield, Sikeston superintendent. “This is a valuable opportunity for our staff at Sikeston Public Schools, and we are fortunate to have a university with such high-quality programs dedicated to supporting and growing educators.”

SEMO President Brad Hodson said the partnership reflects the university’s mission to lead in education across the region. “We’re not just supporting educators, we’re building a powerful network of leaders who are shaping the future of education,” Hodson said.

The Educators Advantage program is part of SEMO’s broader effort to strengthen school partnerships, expand access to higher education, and advance workforce development in southeast Missouri.
