Plane runs off runway, hits home in Mayfield; No injuries reported

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) – A jet airplane overran the runway at Mayfield-Graves County Airport on Thursday afternoon and crashed into a residence along Kentucky 58 East, authorities said.
Emergency crews were called at 3:49 p.m. and found the aircraft had crossed a grassy area, broke through a perimeter fence, crossed KY 58 and struck a home in the 2100 block, east of Mayfield.
The residence was occupied at the time, but the homeowner was not injured. The pilot, the only person aboard the plane, also escaped without injury.
Local and state emergency management officials were notified, along with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board. The scene has been secured pending their investigation.
For safety, KY 58 is closed between KY 131 and KY 301, with access limited to local traffic only.
Responding agencies included the Mayfield-Graves County Rescue Squad, Mayfield Fire Department, Mayfield-Graves County EMS, Graves County Emergency Management and Kentucky State Police.
