Charleston man arrested after stolen gun modified to fire fully automatic, police say

CHARLESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — A Charleston man is in custody after police say he was found with a stolen pistol that had been illegally modified to fire fully automatic.

Officers began investigating the unlawful use of a weapon on Sept. 25 and identified Jadiah Hines, 19, as the suspect, according to authorities. Police said the firearm in Hines’ possession had been altered with a “switch” conversion device.

Hines, who is on parole for stealing firearms and is prohibited from possessing a gun, was booked into the Mississippi County Jail. He faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of an illegal weapon, possession of a stolen weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

His bond was set at $200,000 cash.
