Oasis Outdoors re-open event marks phase 1 of multimillion-dollar development project
MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – One of the biggest development projects in Southern Illinois is a step closer to completion, Oasis Outdoors of Marion has announced they’ve nearly completed phase one of a multiphase, multimillion dollar development project.
The project is the first Star Bond project to happen in the state of Illinois. Star Bonds are used to finance large scale entertainment and tourism projects and are re-paid through increased state and local sales and use taxes after the project is completed.
A new era dawns for power sports in Southern Illinois, as the new oasis location has opened its doors in Marion. Inside the old Illinois Star Center Mall.
It’s being called the Grand Re-Unclosing event and kicked off today October 3 and will run through the weekend allowing residents public access to tour the new space. The 112-million-dollar project is being developed by Oasis Outdoors LLC and according to Larry Webb, General Manager of Oasis Powersports and RV the massive development will house, a Harley Davidson store, lawn mowers, side- by -sides, jet skis, boats, RV’s and more, along with a sports complex a hotel, and more.
“The family entertainment center is coming right here and right here, to the east side of it we’ll have bowling. We’ll have a two level go- kart track. We’ll have laser tag, video arcades, restaurants. I mean it’s really amazing” says Webb.
The locations Webb listed are estimated to be completed by December 15 of 2025. With an estimation of the entire development to be done in 2026 sometime.
According to Oasis owners this location will be the largest powersports facility in the nation when it’s completed.
Estimated to bring in around 2300 jobs, giving the area a huge economic and tourism boost.
“Hundreds of jobs, to the area and, you know, it’s time people come to Southern Illinois to shop, to have fun, to do things” says Webb. “You know, we go out of the area to do a lot of things, right. So now we can stay here, and we can bring other people into our area.”
