POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — Poplar Bluff police have arrested two men in connection with a Sept. 30 shooting at Mike’s Resale, authorities said.
Detectives received information Saturday that Lamar Brown Jr. had been seen the previous night outside the Holiday Inn in Poplar Bluff. After several unsuccessful attempts to contact him by phone, officers located Brown outside the Super 8 Motel around 7:20 p.m. and took him into custody without incident.
Brown was wanted on an active warrant for first-degree assault, with bond set at $100,000, stemming from the Sept. 30 shooting.
The second suspect, James Vernon Taylor, 61, was arrested Oct. 2 at his home after being released from a Memphis hospital. Taylor is being held in the Butler County Justice Center on a probation and parole revocation warrant related to the assault and is being held without bond.
During a search of Taylor’s residence, police said multiple firearms were recovered, including one believed to have been used in the shooting.
Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley commended officers for their efforts in apprehending both suspects and removing illegal weapons from the community.
