(KBSI) A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) plans to close KY 123 at mile point 0.36 in Hickman County starting Monday, Oct. 13 to begin work on a bridge replacement project.
The bridge over Little Cypress Creek is located between KY 575 and KY 307, just west of the Nichols community, and is currently posted with an 18-ton weight limit.
The existing structure will be demolished and replaced with a new bridge. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by the end of November.
Motorists are asked to self-detour. Approximately 200 vehicles travel this section of KY 123 in an average day.
The Crittenden County Road Department will temporarily close Youth Camp Road (CR1411) to through traffic starting Monday, Oct. 13 to Wednesday, Oct. 22, weather permitting. (Please note: Dates/Timeline has changed from previous advisory.)
This closure is necessary to perform repairs to several areas of base failure along the roadway as part of preparations for upcoming paving work.
Please note that local traffic will be able to access and exit Youth Camp Road via either Irma White Road or Tom Hill Road throughout the duration of the closure.
Motorists are urged to stay alert and use caution. This work may alter ordinary routes of travel.
Southbound Interstate 55 in Cape Girardeau County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as construction crews perform pavement repairs.
This section of roadway is located from mile marker 114 to mile marker 114.4.
Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, Oct. 27 through Friday, Oct. 31 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
