Paducah police arrest felon after finding stolen gun at crash scene

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) – A convicted felon was arrested Tuesday after police found a stolen handgun during a traffic collision investigation in the 3100 block of James Sanders Boulevard, according to the Paducah Police Department.

Officers responding to the crash observed one of the drivers, Damon A. Bean, 37, of St. Louis, Missouri, walking away from a lunch box he had placed near a dumpster. When officers searched the lunch box, they discovered a handgun, a small amount of marijuana, and cash.

Police said Bean admitted ownership of the lunch box and its contents. The firearm was later confirmed to have been stolen out of Missouri.

Bean, who is prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions, was arrested and booked into the McCracken County Jail.

He faces charges of:

Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)

Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Possession of Marijuana

The incident occurred at approximately 3:16 p.m. on Nov. 3.
