Disaster Recovery Centers to open Nov. 10 in southeast Missouri counties

KANSAS CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Disaster Recovery Centers will open Nov. 10 in Cape Girardeau, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Scott, Shannon and Washington counties to help Missourians whose homes or property were damaged during severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding between March 30 and April 8, 2025.

At each location, representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration will assist residents with disaster assistance applications, answer questions and help upload required documents.

All centers will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Additional sites may open as they are identified.

Most centers will open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 10 and will close Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. After that, hours will vary by location, generally operating between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Residents in Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Cooper, Dunklin, Howell, Iron, Mississippi, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, Vernon, Washington and Wayne counties may be eligible for FEMA assistance.

What to Bring:

  • Insurance policy number or agent/company name (if insured)
  • Current phone number and email address
  • Social Security number
  • List of damage and losses
  • Banking information for direct deposit (if available)
  • Receipts for disaster-related expenses (e.g., repairs, hotels)

FEMA financial assistance may cover basic home repairs, personal property losses or other disaster-related needs, including childcare, transportation, medical, dental or funeral expenses.

Residents do not need to visit a center to apply. Applications can be completed at Home | disasterassistance.gov, by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362, or through the FEMA app. The deadline to apply is Dec. 22, 2025.

The Missouri State Emergency Management Agency and FEMA encourage those affected to report damage to local emergency management officials, who can connect survivors to state and nonprofit resources.

Note: Damage from separate severe weather events in March and May 2025 is not included in this declaration.
