CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — State Sen. Dale Fowler served as the keynote speaker Friday for the Salvation Army of Southern Illinois’ annual Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff.
Fowler said the familiar sound of the organization’s holiday bells symbolizes more than the start of the season — it represents hope for families in need throughout Southern Illinois.
“The funds raised through the Red Kettle Campaign stay right here in our communities,” Fowler said.
“They help provide rent and utility assistance and other vital support for struggling families.”
He encouraged residents to sign up to volunteer as bell ringers in their local communities this holiday season.
