CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Fire Chief Randy Morris presented clinical life-save awards Tuesday to three Cape Girardeau 911 communicators credited with helping save a patient in cardiac arrest.
Lead Communicator Robbie Ralph and Communicators Esther Williams and Dan King were honored for their actions during a Sept. 30 emergency call in which a caller reported a patient who was barely breathing. The team quickly upgraded the call to dispatch additional units for advanced care. The patient, initially found in cardiac arrest, ultimately made a full recovery.
“We are thankful for their hard work, dedication and rapid decision-making that made this emergency incident successful,” Morris said.
The department noted that 911 communicators are often the “forgotten heroes” on the other end of the line, providing calm, clear guidance during emergencies. City officials said they are proud to have such a skilled and impactful team serving Cape Girardeau.
