Carbondale police arrest teen after firearm found during foot patrol

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) – Carbondale police arrested a Belleville man early Nov. 22 after officers found him carrying a loaded firearm during a foot patrol on East Grand Avenue.

Police said officers were patrolling the 700 block of East Grand around 1:06 a.m. when they learned an individual was armed. Officers located Adam M. Esker, 18, and determined he was in possession of a loaded handgun. Esker did not have a Concealed Carry License or a Firearm Owner’s Identification card, according to the department.

Esker was arrested on a charge of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and taken to the Jackson County Jail pending a detention hearing. The investigation remains ongoing.
