PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) – Lane restrictions on the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis will remain in place until mid-December, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.

IDOT said crews identified additional repair needs during Phase 1 of the project, including work on several floor beams. As a result, crews will continue working through weekends, including this Saturday and Sunday, to complete the current phase.

Once Phase 1 is finished, all four lanes of the bridge are expected to reopen until Phase 2 begins in early March 2026.

Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution in the work zone. Travelers should also prepare for heavier traffic on I-24 beginning Wednesday, Nov. 26, and continuing through the Thanksgiving holiday period.
