More than 500 expected for 5th Annual Mary Mingle 5K on Dec. 6 to support mental health services

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Community Counseling Center Foundation will host its 5th Annual Mary Mingle 5K on Saturday, December 6, in downtown Cape Girardeau. Organizers anticipate a record turnout, with more than 500 participants registered — the largest in the event’s history.
The professionally timed 5K, managed by Red Runner Racing, begins at 8 a.m. at Mary Jane’s Bourbon + Smokehouse, across from Houck Fieldhouse. The course winds through downtown Cape Girardeau and concludes at Minglewood Brewery at Broadway and Spanish streets. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in each age division: 0–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, and 70+.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation, which supports individuals living with mental illness across its five-county service area. Executive Director Michelle Ramsey said this year’s strong registration numbers are expected to significantly boost the foundation’s impact.
“Every registration directly supports our 160-plus residential clients by helping fund Christmas gifts and essential services,” Ramsey said. “Last year’s event raised more than $20,000, and with this record participation, we are confident the 2025 race will exceed that total and expand our ability to enhance care for the people we serve.”
Race Director Brandy McIntire said the growing success of the Mary Mingle 5K reflects strong community involvement.
“This event simply wouldn’t be possible without the runners, walkers, volunteers, and generous business sponsors who show up each year,” McIntire said. “Whether participants run or walk, they are making a direct impact on mental health services in our community.”
There is still time to register.
