CAMPBELL, Mo., (KBSI) — Firefighters responded to a vehicle and house fire Wednesday evening along WW Highway just outside of Campbell, according to the Campbell Volunteer Fire Department.
Crews arrived to find a two-story home with heavy smoke and flames on the north side of the structure, with fire spreading rapidly. While crews were on scene, the department was dispatched to a second reported structure fire along DD Highway. Half of the crew responded to the second call, which was later determined to be a controlled burn.
Due to windy conditions and the proximity of nearby structures, firefighters requested additional manpower from Malden Department of Public Safety. Malden firefighters responded and assisted with suppression efforts, the department said.
The house sustained heavy smoke and water damage throughout the structure, along with significant fire damage to the north side of the home and the roof. The vehicle involved was a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. No serious injuries were reported, though one firefighter sustained a minor ankle sprain while battling the fire.
