Still Warmer, Showers for Thursday
Temperatures in the 50s will persist into the overnight hours, following afternoon temperatures that were close to 10 degrees above average.
While the warmer stretch of temperatures has been nice, Thursday looks to bring a brief change in the weather pattern. Do not forget the umbrella, light showers will be possible late Wednesday into early Thursday, followed by more widespread showers and possibly a thunderstorm. The latest runs of StormCast show rain leaving our area by Thursday evening.
Bringing us back closer to the present, low temperatures tonight will struggle to sneak below 50 due to increasing cloud cover and strong southerly winds.
Mostly cloudy skies in Cape Girardeau with a small chance for a few sprinkles. Temperatures will at worst slip into the upper 40s, with strong southerly winds.
Thursday brings afternoon highs in the mid- to upper-50s before a cold front passes through the region. Very strong southerly winds will shift to be westerly during the afternoon, and northwesterly by Thursday evening.
High temperatures in Cape will reach the middle 50s with mostly cloudy skies. Scattered showers are possible, and a rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out.
Be prepared for strong winds throughout the day on Thursday, with wind gusts in excess of 30 miles per hour for at least the first half of the day.
Sunshine returns on Friday with cooler temperatures in the lower 40s. We bounce around from the 40s to the 50s over the weekend before cloud cover increases early next week. A small chance of rain on Tuesday as temperatures warm into the upper 50s ahead of Christmas Eve.
