Elderly man rescued from overnight house fire in Marion

MARION, Ill., (KBSI) — Firefighters rescued a man from a fully involved house fire early Tuesday in Marion, authorities said.
Crews with the Marion Fire Department were dispatched at about 2:45 a.m. to the 1100 block of East Boyton Street. Upon arrival, most of the home was engulfed in flames.
First-arriving firefighters made entry into the residence and located an elderly man in a hallway amid zero visibility and heavy smoke. Firefighters removed the man from the home and immediately began CPR and administered oxygen, officials said.
The victim was transported to Deaconess Illinois Medical Center and later flown by air medical to another hospital. No update on his condition was available as of this report.
The Marion Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Herrin Fire Department, Marion Police Department, and United Medical Response.
The Illinois State Fire Marshal was requested to investigate the cause of the fire.
