CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Gordonville Fire Protection District has received a $5,000 fire service grant from FM, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers, to strengthen its pre-incident planning efforts.

Fire remains the leading cause of property damage worldwide, and FM has awarded millions of dollars in grants to fire service organizations globally for nearly 50 years to help reduce that risk.

“At FM, we strongly believe the majority of property damage is preventable, not inevitable,” said Michael Spaziani, assistant vice president and manager of FM’s fire service grant program. “Too often, limited budgets prevent organizations from being as proactive as they would like. With additional financial support, grant recipients can help improve property risk in the communities they serve.”

Through its Fire Service Grant Program, FM provides funding to fire departments and national, state, regional, local and community organizations worldwide that demonstrate a clear need and the ability to use the funds for measurable impact. The program supports efforts that improve emergency preparedness and enhance safety and resilience within communities.

FM, founded nearly two centuries ago, is a mutual insurance company focused exclusively on property risk management and loss prevention. Its policyholder-owners include many of the world’s largest organizations, including one in four Fortune 500 companies.
