SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Sikeston Department of Public Safety announced efforts to place an Honor Chair inside its department in memory of Officer Henry Franklin, who was killed in the line of duty Oct. 6, 2025.

The custom wooden Honor Chair is being created through Saving A Hero’s Place, a nonprofit that works with law enforcement officers and families to craft memorial chairs honoring fallen officers. Once completed, the chair will serve as a permanent tribute to Officer Franklin’s service, sacrifice and legacy within the department.

Officials said the chair symbolizes that Officer Franklin’s place within the department will never be forgotten and that his dedication to protecting the community will continue to be honored.

The department is inviting community members, partners and supporters to donate to the Officer Henry Franklin Honor Chair Fund. All contributions will go directly toward the creation of the memorial.

Donations can be made online through the Officer Henry Franklin Honor Chair Fund. Photos included with the announcement are examples of Honor Chairs previously created by Saving A Hero’s Place and are provided to showcase the craftsmanship and design.
