Fire crews contain structure fire on Highway Z in Gordonville

GORDONVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — The Gordonville Fire Protection District, along with automatic mutual aid crews, responded to a reported structure fire in the 200 block of Missouri Highway Z at about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Fire officials said crews arrived to find a fire involving a rear deck and an exterior wood stove, with heat beginning to damage the siding of the residence. Firefighters initiated an offensive attack and were able to stop the fire’s progression, preventing it from spreading further into the structure.
Ventilation operations were conducted due to light smoke inside the home, followed by overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
The fire was determined to have originated from the exterior wood stove. No injuries were reported.
Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Cape Girardeau Fire Department, Jackson Fire Rescue and the Millersville Fire Department.
Crews cleared the scene and returned to service shortly after 4 p.m.
