U.S. 51 Ohio River Bridge reopens between Wickliffe and Cairo

WICKLIFFE, Ky., (KBSI) — The U.S. 51 Ohio River Cairo Bridge between Wickliffe, Kentucky, and Cairo, Illinois, has reopened to traffic following a temporary daytime closure Thursday.
The closure, which lasted from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., allowed crews to inspect the bridge’s navigation lighting system. Traffic was detoured to the I-24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah, Kentucky, and Metropolis, Illinois.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 1 said the bridge reopened once work was completed and thanked motorists for their patience during the inspection.
