Outpouring of support fills food shelves at Southeast Missouri Pets

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Southeast Missouri Pets said community support helped the shelter overcome a critical shortage of adult dog food after supplies were depleted last week.

The organization said it ran out of adult dog food Friday and issued an urgent request for assistance. Community members responded by donating food throughout the weekend, including deliveries made before the shelter closed Friday. Additional shipments continued to arrive in the days that followed.

Officials said storage areas are now nearly full because of the response.

Southeast Missouri Pets expressed gratitude to donors, noting the support benefited both the animals and staff during a difficult moment. The organization also encouraged supporters to consider setting up monthly automatic shipments of dog food or donating a bag during routine shopping trips to help prevent future shortages.

Donation details and drop-off information are available through the organization.
