MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to prepare ahead of potentially hazardous winter weather expected this weekend.
Officials said weather conditions may vary, but regardless of the type or amount of precipitation, residents are encouraged to stay home if travel is not necessary. Bitterly cold temperatures are expected, and motorists are asked to allow road crews time to work safely.
For those who must travel, the sheriff’s office advises using extra caution and preparing emergency supplies, including water, flashlights with batteries, extra clothing and blankets, a portable phone charger and a first aid kit. Drivers are also encouraged to ensure tires are properly inflated and vehicle fluids are topped off.
Officials noted that emergency responders will continue to answer calls as quickly as possible, but weather conditions may also impact response times.
