MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — McCracken County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded Friday afternoon to a three-vehicle crash near the 5-Star Gas Station on Clarks River Road.

Deputies said the crash was reported at about 4:48 p.m., with initial reports indicating one vehicle had overturned and come to rest on top of another vehicle.

Investigators determined that Terry Britton, of Benton, Kentucky, was exiting the gas station and attempting to pull onto Clarks River Road when his vehicle crossed the outbound lanes and struck the side of a vehicle driven by Steven McElwayne, of Hickory, Kentucky.

The initial collision caused McElwayne’s vehicle to enter the median, where it then struck a vehicle driven by Joseph Forrest, of Paducah, who was stopped in the median waiting to enter the gas station. McElwayne’s vehicle overturned and came to rest on top of Forrest’s vehicle, deputies said.

Britton and Forrest were transported to local hospitals with non-incapacitating injuries. McElwayne was not reported injured.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Mercy EMS and the Reidland-Farley Fire Department.
