Carbondale suspends water disconnects, late fees during severe weather

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Carbondale announced it is suspending non-emergency water and sewer disconnects during the current period of inclement weather.
City officials said disconnects will remain suspended until temperatures stabilize. In addition, the city will not assess late fees or other penalties on water bills for the remainder of January 2026.
Residents can continue to make utility payments remotely through the city’s online bill pay system. For more information, customers may contact the city’s revenue office at 618-457-3265.
City officials encouraged residents to stay safe and warm during the severe weather.
