City of Jackson reports improving road conditions, snow route remains in effect

FOX23 News at 9 p.m.

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — Street conditions in Jackson continued to improve Monday as sunshine helped melt snow, though extremely cold temperatures are expected to keep some areas slick, city officials said.

Untreated streets and parking lots may remain slippery, and drivers are urged to use caution. City officials said most roads are in generally good condition and are drivable, though some remain snow-covered. Streets have been plowed, and salt will be applied once temperatures rise above 15 degrees.

The Jackson Street Department has returned to normal operating hours. A snow route proclamation remains in effect, and motorists are asked to keep vehicles off major roadways.

Officials also urged drivers to use caution around snow removal crews and to maintain a distance of at least 100 feet to allow crews to work safely.

Residents needing to report a city service, utility or street issue may call 573-243-2300, which is staffed 24 hours a day.
