Sikeston crews clear major routes, turn focus to neighborhoods

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — Most major roadways in Sikeston, including primary and secondary routes, are clear as snow removal operations continue, city officials said.
Crews are now focusing on clearing neighborhood streets and hope to complete those routes by 7 p.m.
Officials said progress has been slower than normal due to wet snow mixed with sleet, which has created heavier accumulations.
City officials also noted that snowplows may leave piles of snow at the ends of driveways, a common result of plowing operations. To help reduce this issue, residents are encouraged to clear snow at least 20 feet upstream of their driveways, as shown in the city’s guidance diagram.
