Old Town Cape prepares for leadership transition as Haynes steps sown

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Old Town Cape announced that Executive Director Elizabeth Haynes will conclude her tenure March 27 after more than six years with the organization.
Haynes has served as executive director for 6½ years, overseeing a period of organizational growth and increased financial stability.
During her tenure, Old Town Cape expanded its fundraising capacity through new initiatives and strengthened events, marketing and communications efforts. The organization also grew strategic partnerships across the community and invested in staff benefits and internal infrastructure to support employee retention and operational effectiveness.
“Although we are sad to see Liz go, because of her work, the organization is exceptionally well positioned for a smooth transition and continued success,” said Old Town Cape Board President Bonnie Kipper. “Her leadership has been instrumental in elevating Old Town Cape’s profile, capacity and impact.”
Haynes cited both preservation and economic development as highlights of her time with the organization, including efforts to save two historic theaters from demolition.
“It has been an honor to serve Old Town Cape and to work alongside such a dedicated board, staff, partners and community,” Haynes said. “Together, we strengthened the organization’s foundation, expanded its capacity and protected what makes the district special, while also building a vibrant future through intentional business recruitment and strong partnerships.”
Under Haynes’ leadership, Old Town Cape experienced sustained growth and expanded its role as a community organization. The organization enters the leadership transition with stable finances, expanded partnerships and a strengthened internal team.
The board of directors has initiated a transition process and said it is confident in the organization’s readiness for its next chapter. Haynes will continue to support the organization during the transition.
