NASHVILLE, Tenn., (KBSI) — Chainsaw crews with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry have been working across the state to clear roadways and remove downed trees in the aftermath of Winter Storm Fern, officials said.

The work has focused on improving public safety and helping utility crews reach areas without power so restoration efforts can continue.

Officials said Tennessee Emergency Management Agency has coordinated with forestry crews as part of the statewide response. Commissioner Andy Holt recently visited crews in the field to observe operations and assist under supervision.

State officials said Division of Forestry personnel are often among the first responders during emergencies, working long hours in hazardous conditions to support recovery efforts.

Authorities thanked forestry crews and partner agencies for their continued work as communities across Tennessee recover from the storm.
