MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A West Paducah woman and her toddler were taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on KY 1748 West, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies were called at about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 29 to the 700 block of KY 1748 West for a reported injury collision involving an overturned vehicle with the driver and a child still inside.
Investigators said Jessica Kelley, 24, of West Paducah, was driving eastbound in a 2019 Nissan Sentra when she hit a patch of snow and ice, ran off the right shoulder and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its roof.
Kelley was found still restrained in the driver’s seat when first responders arrived and was extricated from the vehicle by the Mayfield Fire Department. Her 1-year-old son, Hudson, who was properly secured in a child safety seat, was removed from the vehicle by first responders.
Both Kelley and her son were taken by ambulance to Jackson Purchase Medical Center to be evaluated for possible minor injuries.
Deputy Bobby Turner investigated the crash and was assisted by Sgt. Ben Doran, Deputy Zac Smith, Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince, Sheriff Jon Hayden, Mayfield-Graves County EMS, the Mayfield Fire Department and the Wingo Fire Department. Authorities also thanked several neighbors and motorists who stopped to help before emergency crews arrived.
