Five arrested after shots fired at Carbondale residence

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Police are investigating a shooting reported early Tuesday on North Wall Street that led to multiple arrests, authorities said.
Officers with the City of Carbondale Police Department responded at about 2:16 a.m. Feb. 3 to the 1300 block of North Wall Street for a report of shots fired. Officers found shell casings and bullet damage to a residence. The resident, Judious Kizeart, was contacted and was not injured.
As the investigation continued, Kizeart was arrested on multiple charges. Police executed a search warrant at the residence and reported finding controlled substances and cannabis. Investigators also located witnesses who provided a vehicle description and suspect information.
Through follow-up investigation, officers and detectives identified Kycho Parks, 26; JaJuan Smith, 27; and Demarcus Jones, 31, as suspects in the shooting. All three were later located and arrested in Carbondale. Police also arrested Johnecia Kyles, 27, in connection with the incident after the fact. Authorities said all involved parties are known acquaintances.
Parks was charged with attempted aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, armed habitual offender and possession of cannabis.
- Smith was charged with attempted aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and armed habitual offender.
- Jones was charged with attempted aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm and armed habitual offender.
- Kyles was charged with obstructing justice and aiding and abetting.
- Kizeart was charged with criminal damage to property, aggravated resisting, possession of a controlled substance, and manufacturing or delivery of cannabis.
All five were jailed at the Jackson County Jail pending bond hearings.
