LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office investigated a reported bank account hacking that resulted in approximately $17,000 being transferred without authorization, according to authorities.

Deputies began the investigation July 7, 2025, after a Ledbetter resident reported the unauthorized transactions. The investigation, led by Deputy Donald Crawford, identified the suspect as 23-year-old Fernando O. Diaz of Madison, Tennessee.

The case was presented to a Livingston County grand jury in October 2025, which returned an indictment charging Diaz with identity theft without consent. Authorities in Tennessee later took Diaz into custody and extradited him to Kentucky.

Diaz is being held in the McCracken County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.

He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
