POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — One person was killed and two others were injured in a five-vehicle crash Sunday evening in Butler County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at about 6:40 p.m. Feb. 8 on U.S. 67, about 2 miles south of Poplar Bluff.

Troopers said a 40-year-old man from Poplar Bluff was traveling south on a moped when it was struck from behind by a 2009 Dodge Ram driven by a 45-year-old man from Haviland. The impact caused the moped rider to be ejected.

The moped was then struck by a 2013 Kenworth and a 2025 Buick Envision. The Buick Envision was subsequently hit by a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu, troopers said.

The moped driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the Buick Envision and the Chevrolet Malibu were taken to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
