Thomasson served the agency for several years and was credited with playing a key role in strengthening emergency communications throughout the county. Officials said he was instrumental in implementing the county’s 800 MHz radio system, which remains the foundation of public safety communications in the area.

During his tenure, Thomasson served in multiple roles, including search and rescue coordinator, training officer, weather spotter and deputy director. Officials said he trained numerous first responders across the region and was committed to ensuring agencies were prepared for emergencies.
