Metropolis to host homecoming celebration for Miss Cosmo International

METROPOLIS, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Metropolis will host a homecoming celebration Sunday, Feb. 15, to honor Miss Cosmo International Yolina Lindquist.
The afternoon of events will begin at Harrah’s Metropolis, where Lindquist is scheduled to arrive for a welcome meet-up and photo opportunity at 1 p.m.
A sightseeing tour is planned to follow at approximately 1:20 p.m., with stops at several local landmarks, including the Giant Kryptonite Rock, Fort Massac State Park, the World’s Largest Superman Statue and the Super Museum, as well as downtown murals and monuments. Organizers said the tour will allow residents and visitors to greet Lindquist and participate in photos.
The main homecoming celebration will be held at The Space, 715 Market St. Doors are set to open at 2:45 p.m., with a red-carpet arrival featuring Lindquist and the Miss Cosmo team scheduled for 3 p.m.
The program will include a meet-and-greet, refreshments and formal awards at 3:15 p.m., followed by remarks beginning at 3:30 p.m. A press conference and media interviews are planned for 4 p.m., along with music and community festivities before the event concludes at 5 p.m.
City officials are encouraging residents to attend and help welcome Lindquist back to her hometown as Metropolis celebrates her international title.
