Authorities investigate shooting in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound during an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cape Girardeau, according to authorities.

Patrolman Bobby Newton said troopers were conducting a preliminary investigation at a home in the 1000 block of Locust Street when the incident occurred.

During the investigation, a man at the scene shot himself, Newton said.

The man was transported to a hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.
