GRAVES COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau, Missouri, man was injured Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Graves County.
First responders were dispatched at about 9:15 a.m. to KY 339 South at the intersection of Johnnie Road, about four miles south of Fancy Farm and just north of Dublin.
Investigators say Jakob C. Sharp, 25, was driving a 2021 Ford flatbed delivery truck southbound on KY 339 while hauling pallets of bagged herbicide. According to authorities, the truck dropped off the shoulder of the roadway. Sharp overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross the center line, leave the opposite shoulder, strike two mailboxes and a stop sign, and overturn. The truck came to rest on its roof.
Officials say Sharp was wearing a seat belt and was able to exit the vehicle before first responders arrived. Residents and passing motorists assisted him until emergency crews reached the scene.
Sharp was transported by Mayfield/Graves County EMS to Mercy Health–Lourdes Hospital in Paducah for treatment of injuries.
Authorities say numerous bags of herbicide spilled onto the roadway and into a nearby yard. The scene was cleared at about 1:08 p.m.
Chief Deputy Jeremy Prince investigated the crash, with assistance from the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Mayfield/Graves County Fire and Rescue, Graves County Emergency Management, Mayfield/Graves County EMS and the Graves County Road Department.
