PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office has released information regarding golf cart inspections required under the City of Paducah’s ordinance governing golf carts operating on city roadways.

Officials emphasized the ordinance applies only to roads within Paducah city limits. McCracken County does not have a countywide ordinance regulating golf carts.

The Sheriff’s Office will begin conducting inspections March 2. Golf carts cannot be permitted prior to April 1.

Authorities said the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office is responsible only for completing the inspection portion of the permitting process. All other steps must be completed through the Paducah Police Department.

Golf cart inspections will be conducted at the McCracken County Courthouse Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

Residents may request an inspection at their home or another location for an additional fee, though off-site inspections may not always be available. Appointments for off-site inspections can be scheduled by calling 270-444-4719.

Inspection fees are $5 at the courthouse and $15 for off-site inspections. Checks should be made payable to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Once a golf cart passes inspection, owners will receive a completed inspection form, which must be taken to the Paducah Police Department to complete the permitting process. The Sheriff’s Office will not retain a copy of the completed form.
