Cape Girardeau police accepting applications for citizens police academy

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Police Department is accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens Police Academy.

The program offers residents an inside look at daily law enforcement operations and is designed to promote transparency and strengthen community relationships.

Participants will receive instruction on patrol operations, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, use-of-force policies, K-9 operations and police communications, among other topics.

Classes will begin in April and continue through May, meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. each Thursday.

The academy is open to anyone age 18 or older who lives or works in Cape Girardeau. The program is free, but space is limited.
