LYON COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to check for recently recovered stolen property and warning of seasonal scam activity in the region.

Sheriff’s officials said deputies have recovered multiple items in recent weeks, including hand tools, power tools and ladders. Some property may belong to individuals who are not yet aware it was stolen. Residents missing such items are encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office.

Authorities also cautioned that this time of year often brings groups of scammers who target homeowners, particularly elderly residents. Deputies said suspects may offer to sell meat from a vehicle, provide discounted driveway sealing services for upfront payment, or propose roof repairs while offering to split insurance proceeds.

Officials advised residents not to engage in suspicious transactions, avoid allowing unknown individuals into their homes and ensure all exterior doors are locked when answering the door. Deputies noted that distraction tactics are commonly used when suspects work in groups.

Residents with concerns are encouraged to contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
