Police investigate rooftop AC unit theft at Carbondale business; $10,000 reward offered

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Police are investigating a burglary reported at a business in Carbondale where parts were stolen from rooftop air conditioning units.
Officers with the Carbondale Police Department responded at 2:36 p.m. March 3 to the 600 block of East Walnut Street after receiving a report of the burglary. Investigators determined the theft occurred Saturday, Feb. 28, when an unknown suspect or suspects removed parts from air conditioning units located on the roof of the business.
During the investigation, officers identified a person of interest who was seen on surveillance video in the area the morning the burglary occurred.
The business owner has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Carbondale Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers. The investigation remains ongoing.
